To Die For
'To Die For' is a fictional horror-themed restaurant for which I designed a menu and versatile set of icons.
Restaurant Branding
Menu Process
I created the menu entirely in InDesign. Because of the restaurant theme I chose, I decided on a minimal, dark color palette that consisted of black, white, and red. The main font I chose, Zapfino, was used for the text logo on the front of the menu as well as the section headers. I added a distressed, dusty texture to the background of each page to create a bit of tension, as well as a claw mark graphic.

This is what the front and back page setup looks like. I designed it so that the menu would be a trifold square.

Icons Process
When creating the icons, I was thinking about imagery that would fit in the with spooky theme and how they could relate to icons a restaurant might use on their website, or potentially menu. These were the rough planning sketches.
Icon sketches; Graphite
I designed the icons in Illustrator, using mostly geometric shapes to form them. This was the initial set I started with. The main problem with these was the lack of cohesion, as I was using both stroke and fill styles.

In this second set of icons, I made them entirely fill-style and ensured each one used a combination of sharp corners and minimal soft curves.

Below is the final documentation of the menu and icons.
